All Italian electric motorcycles and scooters at EICMA 2023

EICMA 2023 opened its doors and, as one might expect, was animated by the presence of numerous models of electric motorcycles and scooters. The Milanese event dedicated to two-wheelers has always indicated the direction that manufacturers follow to move towards the future and, from what we can see, the future will also be zero emissions.

Battery-powered mobility is no longer an absolute novelty. But, in this case, it finds different variations to adapt to the needs of those looking for a high-performance vehicle and those, on the contrary, who need an agile and economical vehicle for daily travel.Italy, in this scenario, plays a leading role, with many new features on the way. Let's start with Piaggio, which is reorganizing the range of the iconic Vespa at EICMA 2023.The 2024 Primavera and Sport S models are also available battery-only.You can choose between the approved L1e and L3e versions, as already happens, but with a substantial innovation.

The batteries of the new electric Vespas (nothing to do with the zero-emission kits seen some time ago) will in fact be removable.Located under the saddle, they are connected to the powertrain via a cable that can be disconnected in an instant via a special release mechanism. So you can go home or go to the office and conveniently recharge the battery in a convenient place.

And what if you preferred the Lambretta? No problem. It also arrives electric. It's called Lambretta Elettra (to make things clear straight away) and, like the Vespa, it reinterprets in a modern key a style that has become iconic and unmistakable over the years. It will be available in a version with a peak power of 15 HP (that's 5.5 HP of continuous power). The Lambretta Elettra, which promises a top speed of 110 km/h and a range of up to 127 km/h (if you travel constantly at 40 km/h) thanks to a 4.6 kWh battery with lithium-iron-phosphate chemistry which recharges at home in 5.5 hours and at the charging station in approximately 35 minutes.

Alongside models that have made the history of two wheels, younger companies also presented themselves at this year's Eicma, again from Italy.Among these, the Velocfero Race-X, which after having made its debut at the 2022 Milan Motor Show as a concept, the battery-powered scrambler is now shown as a series model in all respects. It can be driven by those aged 16 and over and will be sold starting next spring. From the same company also arrives a more enduro motorcycle, the Jump Scrambler, and a city scooter, called Tennis E.

Returning to the strictly motorcycle sector, the Italian Volt Lacama is also on display at Eicma, a 150 HP motorbike capable of reaching a top speed of 230 km/h in its top version. It will be available in two versions, Hyperlight and Hypersport, with powers of 82 and 150 HP respectively. It plays not only on the zero-emission powertrain, but also on a great possibility of customization ranging from the types of saddle to the front light fairing, passing naturally to the color of the bodywork.Prices starting from 36,356 euros and marketing in spring 2024.

Among the scooters made in Italy, a Hurba model can also be seen at Eicma 2023.It's called Street Raptor 300s and it is precisely a maxiscooter with power of up to 20 HP.Available in two versions, with the "Air" equipped with a removable battery, it reaches a maximum speed of 130 km/h which makes it suitable for use on the ring road and on the motorway.

Italy was not the only nation represented at the EICMA on electric.China took part in the 2023 edition of the famous show with a series of more or less well-known brands.Among these, NIU, for example, presented 3 motorcycles and 2 scooters. The first group includes the XQi3, the RQi and the SQi.It is a motocross bike, a naked bike and a superlight bike. They are already on the market in China and will arrive in Europe starting from 2024.

The second group includes the F600 and the F650 which have a maximum speed of 70 and 80 km/h respectively and are both equipped with battery swap for extracting the battery.

In addition to NIU, Bashan and Tromox were seen in the Milan exhibition center. The first presented two very different electric motorcycles. One, the AK3500D, has a retro look, the other, the AK7000D, is instead a motorcycle with more modern lines.

The second, Tromox, instead presented the MC10, a dirt bike weighing just 90 kg and capable of going at 90 km/h thanks to a 14 HP engine powered by a battery that guarantees a range of 60 km ( but there is also one with a larger battery that reaches 120 km).
