Burlingame, Calif. – Bedding manufacturer Standard Fiber is coming to market with an EPA registered solution for utility sleep products.
The manufacturer is launching a new mattress pad made with the Ionic + Mineral Antimicrobial. The antimicrobial treatments make bedding inhospitable to microbes, thereby mitigating the impact of odors, stains and degradation.
The active ingredient in Ionic + that makes this happen is silver. When applied properly, positively charged silver ions are attracted to negatively charged bacteria. The ions attracted to the bacteria’s DNA disrupt its respiration, cell division and replication process.
Standard Fiber’s new mattress pad is made with a circular knit polyester fabric with Ionic + Permanent Antimicrobial: Extruded. In this application, high purity silver is permanently bound within the polymer fibers and will not wash out.
Because it is self-cleaning, fewer washes are needed, thus conserving energy, water, and natural resources.
In addition to being EPA registered, IONIC + antimicrobial treatments are BPR compliant and OekoTex Standard 100 certified.
